I finally finished my third guitar. I had so many mistakes/problems with this one that if it had been my first I would have thought really hard about doing another one! It came out O K though and is the best sounding and playing one so far. I actually put it aside for months and started another one before finishing it. All that was left to do was make the nut and install the saddle. On my first guitars I used masking tape to mark the positions of the bridge then scribe and remove the finish prior to gluing it down.On THIS GUITAR when I went to remove the tape some of the finish came with it! I was able to blend it in but was totally frustrated with this guitar from the start,untill I strung it up and played it.I had tried this product called Bullseye French Polish on the top. I need to greatly improve my finishes. Ron M.

Ron, it happens to us all! Don't worry....after a few guitars, normally 2 or 3 we work out the problem areas and mistakes and then its smooth sailing from there on! (almost!)

I feel for you man. I am now ready to start #23 and every one is a new learning experience. I see some people who build their first or second and they look flawless. Not me. Seems like everyone I build has challenges in different areas but tell you what, each one gets a little bit better and I get a little better understanding of what works for me and what doesn't work. I have learned to slow down a little and walk away from the building process when I run into a problem. And this forum has been a tremendous help in learning from others issues, both successes and failutes. Keep at it - I think these guys who build masterpieces on the first or second try have some exceptional talent and knack for woodworking in general, and I believe the others have simply paid their dues, and have learned many lessons over time.

Join the club. I just (15 min ago) finished pulling the back off of my latest classical to fix a booboo. I had just glued it on only four hours before... This thing has been on the bench way to long already now it looks like another delay.

Oh well, we're having fun right.

I just keep thinking it's the journey, not the destination.

Ronald, i can feel your pain Man, like Ronn said, the journey and the learning curve, we are still learning bud and probably will be for as long as we build 'em beauties. Hang in there ny friend!
